This competition proposal is for a new community aquatic centre located in Sydney's inner west. Warehouse-like forms characteristic of the area have been used to achieve large span volumes and column free areas over the main, smaller, hydrotherapy and toddler's pools. A cafe at a mid level links to the public open space. The main hall has large spanning trusses with a saw-tooth roof form to capture southern light, and abuts the main north-south spine of the centre which provides both the main circulation and the ventilation corridor for the building’s passive environmental systems. The indoor walking track circulates to and from this spine. The small hall retains for its enclosure the facade remnant of the AML&F No.2 Woolstore.
